FLORENCE, Ala. - The University of North Alabama Planetarium and Observatory will host its fall laser shows Sept. 18-24 featuring the classic rock music of Metallica and Led Zeppelin. Dr. Mel Blake, director of the planetarium and assistant professor of physics and astronomy, said the shows will consist of two 30-minute sets of popular Led Zeppelin and Metallica songs. This is the fourth set of laser shows Blake has organized since 2009, he said. "(They're) a way of getting people aware of the planetarium," he said. "It's a way of making connections with people. It's like going to a movie, but only better." The shows will start at 7, 8:15 and 9:30 p.m. every day except for Monday. Shows on Monday will begin at 8:30 and 10 p.m. Tickets to the laser shows will be $5 for UNA students and alumni and $7 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance. For more information about the shows or to buy tickets, contact the Planetarium and Observatory at 256-765-4284 or e-mail rmblake@meili25.com.About The University of North Alabama
