FLORENCE, Ala. - Alabama Governor Robert Bentley will give a presentation to the Shoals Chamber of Commerce March 2 at 11:30 a.m. in the Guillot University Center banquet halls at the University of North Alabama. Supported by the UNA College Republicans, the event will also be open to the UNA community and general public. Emily McCann, UNA junior and president of the College Republicans organization, said Bentley will speak to Shoals Chamber of Commerce members, who previously purchased tickets to hear the governor's presentation. There will be seats available in the back for other attendees without a ticket. "Not only is Governor Bentley one of our strong Republican leaders, it is also great to have him on campus and good for students to have one-on-one contact with him," McCann said. "It's important for us to let him know what a beautiful city and school we have." The Alabama update luncheon with Bentley will allow students to interact with the governor and learn more about what's going on within the state of Alabama, according to McCann. "This is a great chance for students to ask questions and meet (Bentley)," she said. "We're fortunate enough to put face contact to our university and not just be a name on the map, where he can say, 'It's UNA. I've been there and met students, faculty and staff, and community.' This is a great way to make a mark on him." For more information about the event, contact Steve Holt with the Shoals Chamber of Commerce at 256-764-4661.
