One-mile walk raises awareness for rape and sexual assault FLORENCE, Ala. - One hundred twenty-five fraternity brothers have their four-inch red high heels polished and ready for an afternoon stroll through downtown Florence April 23. They'll be among many University of North Alabama students, faculty and staff participating in Walk a Mile in Her shoes, a one-mile walk to benefit Safe Place, an organization to prevent rape and domestic violence and abuse while providing free services to victims and education for members of the community. Men pay $10 to walk. Women walk for free, but may buy a T-shirt for $5. The walk will begin at 3 p.m. April 23 in front of UNA's Norton Auditorium. Participants will walk down Pine Street to W. Mobile Street and then turn north onto N. Court Street to return to campus.
