Thigpen, Downs Crowned Una Homecoming King And Queen

FLORENCE, Ala. - Samuel Thigpen and Leah Beth Downs were crowned the University of North Alabama's 2009 Homecoming King and Queen this evening at Braly Municipal Stadium. The coronation ceremony was held during pre-game activities before the UNA-Arkansas Tech Homecoming game.
Thigpen, a senior physical education major from Red Bay, is president of the UNA Student Government Association. While at UNA, he has also been involved with Phi Gamma Delta, the LaGrange Society, Campus Outreach and Shared Governance. He was also the Alpha Gamma Delta Man of the Year. He is the son of Wesley and Donna Thigpen. Thigpen is sponsored by the Alpha Gamma Delta fraternity. Downs, a senior public relations major from Athens, is president of Alpha Gamma Delta. She has also been a member of the Order of Omega, the Student Government Association, Campus Outreach, the LaGrange Society, the Public Relations Council of Alabama and the Phi Gamma Delta Sweetheart Court. She is the daughter of Joel and Dana Downs. Downs is sponsored by the Alpha Gamma Delta fraternity.
